New environmentally friendly receipts introduced at Schwarz Group’s retail divisions
Lidl and Kaufland, the retail divisions of the Schwarz Group, are converting their receipts to eco-friendly receipts made of blue thermal paper. In doing so, they make a contribution to even more sustainability and make shopping „more colorful“ and more environmentally friendly.
The innovative, blue thermal paper for the new receipts is FSC-certified and comes from responsible forest management. The receipt is produced without chemical color developers, is sunlight resistant and can be permanently archived without fading. Another advantage for customers is that the eco-friendly receipt is oil and water resistant and therefore highly durable. The new material should also allow the receipts to be easily disposed of with wastepaper and be recycled.
In the course of the receipt changeover, the packaging of the receipt rolls is also optimized avoiding the use of plastic. By these small changes, the Schwarz Group will save a total of 30 tons of plastic per year as part of its continued efforts within the Group-wide REset Plastic strategy.
