Group-Wide Climate Strategy

Climate change poses enormous challenges for our society and demands action at all levels of society. As the Schwarz Group, we aspire to minimize the impact of climate change and steadily reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of our group-wide climate strategy, we officially joined the Science Based Targets Initiative already in August 2020. Following a complete carbon footprint and analysis of the CO2  footprint, climate protection targets were set according to the methodology of the Science Based Targets Initiative and developed in line with measures to reduce, avoid or compensate CO2  emissions in operations and along the supply chain.

The Science Based Targets Initiative is an alliance of the renowned environmental and climate protection organizations CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), UNGC (United Nations Global Compact), WRI (World Resources Institute) and WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature). By joining the initiative, we support the Paris Agreement and make a measurable contribution to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Our goals:
As Schwarz Group, we will reduce our operational greenhouse gas emissions* by 55 percent by 2030 compared to 2019. We urge suppliers that are responsible for 78 percent of product-related emissions to commit to setting their own climate target in line with the criteria of the Science Based Targets initiative by 2026.

A variety of measures to reduce, avoid or compensate CO2 emissions in operations and along the supply chain serve to achieve these targets. For more information visit the section “eco systems”.
