REset Plastic Cleanup Event – Schwarz Group employees play an active role in protecting the environment

In the spirit of the group-wide REset Plastic strategy, roughly a thousand employees in Neckarsulm and Heilbronn and at the Schwarz Produktion locations joined forces last Friday, September 17, 2021, to take part in a Schwarz Group Cleanup Event spanning all of the Group companies. The aim was to rally staff in support of environmental protection to mark World Cleanup Day for a second time and clear up litter in public places. In total, 2.4 tons of waste were collected.

The theme was "less pollution – more solidarity", and employees from all Group companies and hierarchical levels came together to lend a helping hand in over a hundred small teams at various locations. Environmental division PreZero set up its own recycling depot at the Neckarsulm site specially for the campaign day to ensure that the waste could be separated for recycling and subsequently sent for processing or disposal. Start-up HolyPoly was on site to turn the recyclable materials straight into new shopping cart tokens. Some of the recyclables will be used for an "upcycling" art project run by the foundation Evangelische Stiftung Lichtenstern, where disabled children and young people will work with the material to create art.

Going forward, the Schwarz Group will organize further campaigns and partnerships to drive forward the REmove action area of its plastics strategy.
