Retail divisions of Schwarz Group contract RWE to supply green energy from offshore wind farm

Lidl and Kaufland are making progress toward achieving their climate targets by signing a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with RWE Supply & Trading for roughly 250 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy per year starting in 2028. The PPA has been signed for a duration of ten years. The power will come from the “Kaskasi” offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, which officially commenced operations at the end of March. As such, the retail divisions of Schwarz Group are the first corporate customers to conclude a PPA for green energy from the “Kaskasi” wind farm.

Inflation bonus: Schwarz Group companies pay a total of almost EUR 40 million to employees

Non-exempt employees at companies belonging to the Schwarz Group will benefit from the state “inflation bonus”: After the German government approved this measure on Tuesday, 25 October 2022, in the wake of sharp increases in consumer prices, they will be the first retail companies to pay out tax-free bonuses to their employees, spending a total of almost EUR 40 million in Germany for this purpose.


The Schwarz Group’s REmove field of action is helping to free oceans, rivers, and lakes of plastic waste. Since the BRIC station commenced operations three years ago, the “SeeHamsters” (catamarans designed to remove waste from rivers) have been removing up to 500 kilograms of waste every day.

For more environmentally friendly mobility: Schwarz Group expands its network of EV charging stations across Europe

With the ambitious expansion of its EV charging network, the Schwarz Group is actively promoting the mobility transition: By the end of the 2022 fiscal year, the corporate group will install around 6,200 new EV charging points at store locations of its retail divisions across Europe, thus increasing the total number of EV charging points in its EV charging network to approximately 13,000.
